Making Sense of the MLS
The Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is a database that enables real estate agents to advertise and share information about a property that is for sale or lease. Once a property is listed on the MLS, select information from that listing will be migrated to websites such as Zillow.com, Realtor.com, Trulia and literally 100's more individual websites. Although the MLS has the most comprehensive data, secondary websites typically contain pictures of your property and select information about it. The combination of the MLS and secondary websites are indeed a powerful marketing tool in the sale of your home. Approximately 80% of home buyers search on the internet for property.
